‘New Horizons in Oncology: Breast Cancer’ Symposium By Anadolu Medical Center

Anadolu Medical Center  who serves with the mission of being a reference center in Turkey and abroad in health, has hosted the 3rd of Oncological Sciences Symposium. The conference provided a state of the art review of the current treatment modalities and ongoing research on breast cancer from various standpoints including; risks, molecular studies, imaging, radiotherapy treatment at different stages, surgical aspect, and systemic management.

Anadolu Medical Center highlighted the recent developments and new treatment options about breast cancer, which is diagnosed to 1 million 400 thousand women every year. The Oncological Sciences Symposium which Anadolu Medical Center carried out on September 12th, 2015 welcomed the contribution of valuable doctors from Turkey and abroad. The invited speakers from different countries are highly recognized authorities in their specialties and Anadolu Medical Center was proud to host this one-day event with state-of-the-art reviews and discussions with physicians from different disciplines.

Prof. Dr. Banu Arın, who has been working on breast cancer and clinical cancer prevention at MD Anderson, one of the top medical centers in U.S.A, shared her recommendations in her speech about managing the high-risk patient group with the topic of Genetic Risc and Evaluation.  Marc Sütterlin from Mannheim University Hospital and Eleftherios P. Mamounas from Florida University Cancer Center also participated the event and talked about loco-regional treatment of breast cancer.

The symposium undertaken by Prof. Dr. Metin Çakmakçı, the Head of  Breast Center Department at Anadolu Medical Center, the specialist physicians from the other reputable hospitals of Turkey shared their opinions with their colleagues attending from various countries in the world. From Anadolu Medical Center, Medical Oncology Specialist Prof. Necdet Üskent shared valuable information on neo adjuvant treatment in breast cancer and patient selection process; whereas our Aesthetic, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Specialist Prof. Haluk Duman visited the topic of the timing of the breast reconstruction surgery.

Anadolu Medical Center will continue hosting these types of productive symposiums in the upcoming year, again with gathering leader physicians in their specialties from around the world and also provide a networking event by creating a platform for physicians to exchange information and join relevant discussions on a contemporary topic in medicine.
