As Anadolu Medical Centre, we aim to provide the best healthcare service to our patients with our vision of a reference center in cancer, and our multidisciplinary approach. Accordingly, we were accredited by ESMO (European Society for Medical Oncology) as ESMO Designated Centre of Integrated Oncology and Palliative Care. Anadolu Medical Centre's oncology and palliative care department has held this accreditation since 2007. For the continuity of accreditation, certain criteria must be met every 3 years.

ESMO assesses the quality of care of oncology patients and certifies that all needs of these patients are assessed and necessary care practices are carried out. Our work carried out in this direction has been accredited for the sixth time by the ESMO Palliative Care Working Group (PCWG), the section of ESMO related to palliative care.
What is ESMO?
The European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) is an organization that has been supporting cancer studies and professionals in the field of oncology all over the world, especially in Europe, since 1975.
What is ESMO Palliative Care Accreditation?
In 2003, ESMO Special Integrated Oncology and Palliative Care accreditation programs were launched with a special recognition to ensure the integration of cancer centers in high standards of medical oncology and palliative care.
In this program, which aims to fully integrate oncology and palliative care, organizations provide evidence to prove that they provide excellent integration of palliative and oncological care under 13 standard headings.
ESMO values palliative care as much as oncological treatments. According to the ESMO criteria, an excellent cancer center is not only a centre that provides radiotherapy or chemotherapy. The center should offer its patients comprehensive support and palliative care integrated into oncological care. It requires a doctor, nurse, and all other employees who care for patients to be trained in palliative care and an approach in which the patient and family participate in the form of care and decisions related to it.
At Anadolu Medical Centre, our aim is to comfort the patient and the family and improve the quality of life during and after all stages of diagnosis and treatment while oncological treatments are ongoing or completed.
Anadolu Medical Centre continued to successfully fulfil the criteria of the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) and renewed its ESMO accreditation for the 6th time. Thus, it has once again proved its excellence in the integration of oncology and palliative care.
ESMO accreditation is not easy to obtain by all centers. Unlike the accreditations we are familiar with, we need to complete this integration online through a file with scientific care results and documents with a high level of evidence in this accreditation. This makes it more difficult to obtain and enhances the meaning of accreditation, making it more attractive. It is a great honor to work for an organization with ESMO accreditation.
In an excellent cancer center, medical oncology, radiotherapy, surgery, pathology, radiology, and nuclear medicine branches should work in a multidisciplinary manner and gather under the same roof. In order to provide a comprehensive service to the patient and his/her family, a pain specialist, nutritionist, and psychologist experienced in the care of cancer patients must be part of the team. Through this accreditation, we not only show that we provide better service to our patients, but also prove that we are a reference center in healthcare.
Anadolu Medical Center which has received its and Turkey’s first accreditation in 2007 renews the accreditation in every three years by completing all the criteria. It continues to provide an excellent care service with Person-Centered Care and integrated care understanding growing day by day.
