After graduating from Istanbul University Istanbul Medical School in 1985, Prof. Salih Türkoğlu completed his two-year compulsory service at Bingöl, Ministry of Education, Health Education Center. He sat for the Specialty in Medicine (TUS) exam in 1988 and was entitled to enroll in the Department of Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology of Istanbul University, Istanbul Medical School.   After becoming a specialist in microbiology and clinical microbiology in 1992, Prof. Türkoğlu became associate professor in 1995, and professor in 2002 in the same department.   Prof. Türkoğlu served in various institutions abroad, including, 1 year as “foreign specialist” at Paris Sud Medical Faculty, Antoine Beclere Hospital, Microbiology Department.    With the thesis (mémoire) that he prepared in that period of time, he was awarded the title “foreign assistant” and served as intern at Paris Pasteur Institute Microbial Immunology Department for 4 months. 

Between 2003 and 2006, he was assigned to Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology Department at Cerrahpaşa Medical School upon his own request, and gave lectures in the “Prof. Dr. Uğur Derman Medicine Program in English".   He worked at Istanbul Medical Faculty, Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology Department for 3.5 years until he was assigned as professor.
Prof. Türkoğlu who took part in the establishment of the laboratories of Anadolu Medical Center in 2004 worked as manager of Clinical Microbiology Laboratory and Blood Bank and concurrently as Diagnosis and Imaging Coordinator for 9 months, and in 2012, he was temporarily Medical Director of ASM for 5 months.   Prof. Türkoğlu who continued to serve as laboratory manager on a half-time basis until 2011 has been serving as full-time clinical microbiologist since then.
