Accreditation System for Interventional Oncology Services
Anadolu Medical Center became a member of the International Accreditation System for Interventional Oncology Services (IASIOS). Anadolu Medical Center thus obtained a voice in setting interventional oncology standards; it is one of the five authorized centers in the world that set the standards for accreditation in "interventional oncology."
1- What is IASIOS accreditation? Why is it important and what is its contribution?
International Accreditation System for Interventional Oncology Services (IASIOS) is the quality and recognition certificate for interventional oncology services that are offered in accordance with the standards set by Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe. The purpose of IASIOS is to certify better patient care, to establish and monitor quality indicators and encourage the development of oncological interventions.
2- What is the accreditation process?
If centers successfully fullfil basic and extended requirements, they first receive an "Accredited Center" certificate for four years from IASOS, and then a "Center of Excellence" certificate.
3- How many hospitals in the world are IASOS members?
There are currently five registered IASIOS member hospitals. After one hospital from the UK, two from Australia and one from France, Anadolu Medical Center from Turkey is included in the pilot phase after evaluations by CIRSE and IASIOS.
4- How was the decision was taken to join this initiative?
The decision to join this initiative was taken with the joint intentions and contributions of General Director of Anadolu Medical Center, Interventional Radiology physicians of Anadolu Medical Center, Head of Radiology Department of Anadolu Medical Center, Oncological Sciences Coordinator of Anadolu Medical Center, Quality and Patient Safety Director of Anadolu Medical Center and Medical Director of Anadolu Medical Center.
5- Which criteria a hospital must fullfil to be accredited in Interventional Oncology?
Candidates have to demonstrate their interventional oncology quality standards during the inspections following the application. These are staff and hospital facilities, treatment planning and execution, and safety and quality standards. Adequate amount of evidence including all documents or records requested for these data is presented.
6- What advantages does IASIOS membership offer Anadolu Medical Center and its patients? Why is it important for Turkey?
Anadolu Medical Center once again demonstrated its commitment to offering high-quality healthcare in accordance with the standards of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology Society of Europe, and suitable for cancer patients.
Interventional radiology allows various diseases to be minimally treated, guided by imaging, and is now being recognized as a separate specialty.
