At the Urology Clinic of Anadolu Medical Center, we serve female, male and pediatric patients in different areas of practice for various diseases. We evaluate our patients using a multidisciplinary approach at the outpatient clinic, urodynamic laboratory, same day surgical service and emergency service.

We offer a multidisciplinary approach in the treatment of urologic cancers in cooperation with our Medical Oncology and Radiation Oncology departments.

General Urologic Diseases and Treatment

1. Kidney, ureteral and bladder stones

Treatment method:

• Medicinal therapy
• Surgical therapy (Endoscopic Stone Removal Procedures, PNL- Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy, Endoscopic Ureteral Stone Removal– Laser Lithotripsy, RIRS-Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery (Flexible URS) Endoscopic Removal of Bladder Stones)

2. Hydrocele (accumulation of fluid in the testicles)

3. Hydronephrosis (Dilatation of the kidneys due to stone or as a result of obstruction due to congenital ureteral stricture).

4. Ureteropelvic Junction Obstruction (Dilatation of the kidneys as a result of obstruction due to congenital ureteral stricture).

• Catheter insertion through the skin under ultrasonography guidance (Percutaneous Nephrostomy)
• Endoscopic surgery (D-J stent insertion)

Reconstructive Urologic Diseases and Treatment

Reconstructive urology is the medical specialty that focuses on the treatment of anatomic damages and dysfunctions in reproductive organs (penis in males and uterus and vagina in females) using plastic surgery techniques.

Reconstructive urologic diseases are divided into four according to their origins:

1. Congenital urologic diseases:

• Hypospadias (opening of the urethra on the underside of the penis)
• Epispadias (opening of the urethra on the upper side of the penis)
• Exstrophy (bladder turned inside out)
• Reflux (retrograde flow of urine from the bladder to the kidney)

2. Diseases associated with injuries that develop during Urology, Gynecology and General Surgery operations:

• Urethral stricture
• Ureteral injury or rupture
• Fistulas (leakage of urine from the vagina)
• Urinary incontinence in men after prostate surgery

3. Diseases due to falls and accidents

• Urethral separation
• Bladder rupture

4. Diseases due to ageing and birth

• Female pelvic organ prolapse (uterus, bladder or rectum)
• Urinary incontinence

Use of Robotic Surgery in Urology

At Anadolu Medical Center, we use the da Vinci robotic surgery system successfully in most of the operations that are performed using open surgery, including in particular, major cancer surgeries and reconstructive urologic surgeries.
